Our Town explores the relationship between two young Grover’s Corners neighbors, George Gibbs and Emily Webb, whose childhood friendship blossoms into romance, and then culminates in marriage. When Emily loses her life in childbirth, the circle of life portrayed in each of the three acts of Our Town–growing up, adulthood, and death–is fully realized.

Wilder offers…a backdrop for an exploration of the universal human experience. The simple story of a love affair is constantly rediscovered because it asks timeless questions about the meaning of love, life and death. “Oh, earth, you’re too wonderful for anybody to realize you” (www.thorntonwilder.com/our-town)

Grade 11 Visual Art and Theatre students have explored key themes in the play and learned about directing, lighting, composition and emphatic storytelling with Canadian photographer artist in residence Damian SiqueirosThe Art students have created stunning photographs with the support of theatre students. Furthermore, Theatre students have produced, directed, designed and are performing in their own production of this classic play. There will be an exhibition of the work from 4pm.
